pride 2021
thrilled to share a few illustrations i created for this year’s Toronto Pride festival! i was asked to explore the past few decades of Toronto’s history. for the first piece, i gathered a crew of local icons, past and present, and depicted them all hanging together on the old Church Street steps. for the second piece, i paid specific tribute to the late legendary drag performer Michelle Ross, and the various local venues she performed at over her decades-long career. the third piece was made for Pride’s virtual Alternaqueer event, showing supernatural drag creatures emerging from the rubble of our shuttered cityscape.
huge thanks to Primeau and everyone at Pride for this opportunity.

koyama press provides grant
i’ve been announced as the recipient of a Koyama Press Provides grant! i’ll be putting this towards the printing costs of a new comic next year. ❤️🖤 seeing the Koyama Press table at my first TCAF in 2010 gave me a push to take making comics more seriously, and made me excited to live in Toronto. publishing a book with Annie years later was a dream come true. being able to count her as a mentor and friend, maybe even more so. though it’s sad to see KP wind down this year, i’m thrilled to see the KP Provides program take off. i guess...i better...get to work!!
